Waiting on more from DeRozan

Toronto swingman DeMar DeRozan has had a solid rookie campaign so far. Hang Time wonders if there is something more there, something that might come out during All-Star Weekend (if DeRozan was to make the dunk contest or rookie challenge).
DeMar DeRozan's rookie season is progressing just fine. He's playing just over 20 minutes a game, having started 35 of the 35 games he's played and averaging a respectable 7.6 points and a could-be-better 2.9 rebounds. But if you're like us here at Hang Time, weren't you expecting more?
Weren't you expecting more highlight plays, more sizzle and perhaps even a little more of an instant impact from the player touted as the 2009 draft's most gifted athlete? There might be more coming from DeRozan. The Raptors are surging and he is showing signs of being more than just an athletic slasher. Still, we must admit to being a bit underwhelmed with the way DeRozan is progressing. He's yet to record a double digit rebound game and hasn't had a game where he's taken more than 12 shots. Maybe it's the rest of this rookie class that's throwing us off. With so many outstanding performances from so many different players, it's been strange to see such an unspectacular (albeit steady) offering from a player billed as the most exciting option in his draft. That's why Hang Time is starting the push now to make sure DeRozan is included in the All-Star Weekend festivities next month in Dallas. We need to see more of him on a grand stage, in the rookie game and in the slam dunk competition (if possible). There has to be more there than we've seen. And what better time to see it than during the league's showcase weekend.
