Iowa Energy Playing Well
By Paul A. Drey January 5, 2010 • 5:50 PM
Catching up with the Iowa Energy through early January 2010
The Iowa Energy have started the 2009-2010 season very strongly. Staring 13-2 has put the Energy in first place in the D-League. The Energy are soon to start there next game against Austin in the Showcase in Idaho. The Energy have played some exciting games including their triple overtime victory against Fort Wayne at home a few weeks ago. Coach Nurse has the team playing very unselfishly. Taylor griffin (Phoenix Suns) is a great example. He is on his second stint with the Energy this year and has played well within the system and has been a great team player. Curtis Stinson has led the team well, and Cartier Martin's return, along with many other players have really helped the Energy. Many players have stepped up and raised their game to help the Energy this season. On Saturday, January 9, the energy return home and will play Rio Grande Valley at 7:00 at Vets Auditorium. It is 70's night and the game should be a lot of fun. Please plan to attend. The Energy will then turn around and play again on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Other exciting news is that rumor has it that the Energy will be playing as part of the new NBA D League television package on the Versus network. The game January 23, 2010 is scheduled to be broadcasted. Please plan to be there and cheer on the Energy. GO ENERGY!!! Continue →

ARE YOU AN ENERGY FAN?
By Paul A. Drey January 4, 2010 • 6:41 PM
A discussion of what it takes to have fans become Energy fans and a request for ideas
In this blog entry, I want to express my thanks to the wonderful Iowa Energy fans who have supported this team so well and also discuss how we enlarge this fanbase. To me, this is an exceptional level of basketball. We have a very competitive team (leading the NBA D League with a 13-2 record), great players who are involved in the community, great coaches led by Coach Nick Nurse, a local ownership group, a wonderful facility in playing at Wells Fargo Arena. It seems like a lot of pluses and we have recently learned that Versus sports network will begin broadcasting some NBA D-League games and we are hopeful to showcase the Iowa Energy on this network. When I have gone to games, I have found it to be a family entertainment value that provides great opportunities to see basketball and have a lot of fun. I have also found it to be a great event to which to take clients. As part of the ownership group, we are very happy with our fanbase, but we are always looking for ways to grow it. We have a lot of seats in Wells Fargo Arena and we would love to fill each of them. I would be interested in your thoughts as to how to make this product better and how to increase the fanbase. We want more people to see this great product. I would also ask each of you, the fans, to let others know if you have enjoyed your time at an Energy game. I will look forward to your thoughts. To communicate with the Iowa energy fans abiout the team, players, and business of the NBA D League
Welcome back to season 3 of the Iowa Energy. The season has gotten off to a great start as the Energy have started 3-0, with its home opening victory last evening against Fort Wayne. The team is playing exciting basketball, and we are looking forward to a fantastic season. The Energy raised the banner last evening commemorating last season's success. In addition to winning the division, the Energy sent five players on nine callups to the NBA. This level of basketball is FANtastic. Last evening at the game, I got to talk to some of you in person and thank you for coming. This was a great experince to hear from YOU, THE FANS. Our fanbase is a huge part of our success, and we are hopeful that with many more weekend games, we will be able to enlarge the fanbase. I will look forward to sharing my thoughts as we go forward and will look forward to your thoughts and ideas as we move forward together this season. I hope to see you Sunday at 4:00 p.m. GO ENERGY!!! Continue →
