Cavs-Lakers, LeBron-Kobe

Cavs-Lakers, LeBron-Kobe = Must See TV – don’t miss it.

Oh! I’m feeling mighty fine this morning
I’ve got good music on my radio
Hey baby, I’m feeling mighty fine
I’ve got good music on my radio

Merry Christmas, Baby

Kobe vs. LeBron

Best player in the game? Kobe. Is it undisputed? Probably not, but there isn’t any denying Kobe is the most accomplished player in the league.

You hear a lot of chatter in the league – who is better? Kobe or LeBron? LeBron or Kobe. LeBron is the reigning NBA MVP. The Nike muppets commercials (which I love) also play up the rivalry angle and the Kobe-LeBron matchup is the main reason a lot of people will be tuning in to ABC on Christmas Day.

When you talk about these two great players, you have to look at the ultimate barometer, --- championships. And when it comes to championships, there isn’t a rivalry.

Kobe 4, LeBron 0.

But saying Kobe is the best player in the game is not a dis on Lebron, who obviously has the physical gifts along with the talent to be the best. Until you win that first championship, the monkey will always be on your back. You look at some of the great players in the history of the game – Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Allen Iverson come to mind --all of whom are either in the Hall of Fame or will soon get there and the one void is the lack of ring. Not winning the championship certainly doesn’t diminish their significant accomplishments but I’m sure they would all love to have one.

Now, LeBron still has plenty of time. He won’t turn 25 until next week. He’s already been to one NBA Finals and I have no doubt he will be leading the Cavs (or some team) to many more.

I’m bummed that I won’t be playing on Christmas. I always love playing on that day. One of the matchups to watch is Ron guarding LeBron. That’s what’s great about having Ron on our team. He’s such a physical player and he’ll welcome the challenge of guarding a great player like LeBron.

We also have the flexibility to do a lot of switching. Kobe loves those types of challenges and if I know him, he’s licking his chops knowing that the whole world will be watching. So expect Kobe to be guarding LeBron at various points in the game.
