My Quote

The ONLY reason why I follow the WNBA is because Big Nick... the Big Nasty... Nicky Anosike is in it. Big Nick brings the thunder, baby! She plays big in big games -- shut down Rutgers in '07 and shut down Candice Wiggins and Stanford in '08. She should have been the co-MVP/MOP of both of Tennessee's back-to-back NCAA Championships games. Nicky Anosike is a WINNER... unsung, but indispensable. She's my favorite... and soon to be yours... Nicky Anosike.

    > dee, why is this your last year following the wnba?

Hey, whitedudeLUVSwnba... It's a simple answer. I'm through. I've accomplished what I came here to do.

    It's your turn, my friend.

You may think that I'm crazy... but I was like a parent watching her kid walk into their first-grade classroom or catch a school bus for the first time... when Nicky Anosike left Tennessee for the WNBA. You feel over-protective, nervous and proud... all at the same time.

Had Nicky been picked in the first round of the WNBA Draft... I wouldn't be here. I would have been proud of her (like I was of the other four Lady Vols who were drafted last year)... but I probably would have never seen her play in the WNBA. The WNBA Draft telecast would have been it for me.

But I was just so ticked-off that Nicky didn't get selected until the second round. And inbetween rounds, Carolyn Peck was pleading Nicky's case... as if the WNBA teams needed to be talked-into taking her.

What a great injustice to Nicky!

That's when I decided to get behind any team that selected Nicky... and push for her recognition and respect... and pull for her success.

And of course, Nicky made the rest easy. She rose to the challenge in the pros... and had a spectacular rookie campaign... here and overseas.

And what can I say about Charde Houston... she's a great kid. My heart goes out to anyone who almost gets counted out... only to get up and knock the other guy out. I love a fighter. And I love the fight in her. Maybe because I've had to fight... all of my life... against every "ism" and bully there is. And I've probably lost more fights than I've won... but at least, I fought.

So, what's left to be said or done, dude? It's like reading a book. It has to end sometime. (lol) (lol)

But it doesn't mean I don't love my Nicky or wish all the best for Charde. It just means... things have run their course. And ain't nuthin' left to do but the shouting... when the Lynx take the West.

Today is March 27, 2011... I'm still chatting it up for Nicky Anosike... over 2000 posts later.

    Now, that's loyalty!
